Thermal Imaging Survey in Dublin 4
Infrared surveys that show where your home loses heat, where insulation is missing, and where damp is likely. Covering Donnybrook, Sandymount, Ballsbridge and the surrounding area.
Thermal Imaging Surveys for Dublin 4 homes
Large Dublin 4 period homes show substantial heat loss on camera through solid walls, tall sash windows, bay projections and roofs. Cold internal surfaces in basements and rear returns point to condensation and mould risk. With much of the area protected, the survey is used to plan the measures that are allowed, such as internal insulation on selected walls, floor insulation and draught-proofing, in order of benefit.
How homes in Dublin 4 lose heat
Large period homes have high ceilings, big sash windows, solid walls and suspended floors, so their heating demand is high and BERs of E to G are common despite good maintenance. Sandymount homes near the strand are also exposed to sea wind. Modern apartments mainly benefit from airtightness and ventilation checks.
Typical housing: Victorian and Edwardian red-brick terraces in Donnybrook, Sandymount and Sydney Parade, larger period semis and detached homes on Ailesbury and Shrewsbury, and modern apartments and townhouses toward the docklands.
How thermal imaging survey works
A thermal imaging camera reads the surface temperature of walls, ceilings, floors and windows. When there is a good temperature difference between inside and outside, heat escaping through a weak spot shows up clearly: a gap in attic insulation, an uninsulated lintel, a cold corner where condensation and mould tend to start, or a draught path around a window frame.
Thermal Imaging Survey in Dublin 4: questions
Do you carry out thermal imaging survey in Dublin 4?
Yes. We cover Dublin 4 and the surrounding Dublin area, including Donnybrook, Sandymount, Ballsbridge. Victorian and Edwardian red-brick terraces in Donnybrook, Sandymount and Sydney Parade, larger period semis and detached homes on Ailesbury and Shrewsbury, and modern apartments and townhouses toward the docklands.
Is there a grant for thermal imaging survey in Dublin 4?
There is no standalone SEAI grant for a thermal imaging survey. It is often the cheapest way to make sure grant-funded insulation goes where it does the most good. Grant amounts are set nationally by SEAI and change from time to time, so check seai.ie before applying. We confirm what your home is likely to qualify for during the survey.
When is the best time for a thermal imaging survey?
Thermal imaging needs a clear temperature difference between inside and outside, so the heating season from October to April gives the clearest results. Early morning or evening surveys avoid sunshine warming the walls.
Can a thermal camera see damp?
Damp areas often show as cooler patches because evaporation cools the surface, and cold surfaces are where condensation forms. The camera points to likely problem areas, which we then check with a moisture meter where needed.
Will it show whether my cavity wall insulation is complete?
Yes, gaps or settled areas in cavity fill usually show as warmer patches on the outside of the wall in winter, because more heat escapes through them. It is a quick way to check older fills.
